FGas Legislation for R22 Refrigerant

Due to the current F Gas legislation, we are no longer able to break into any system containing R22 refrigerant.

We are still able to service equipment containing R22 refrigerant, with leak testing being carried out by operating the system, taking running temperatures and visual checks.

But should any breakdown occur which needs replacement parts on the refrigerant side, assuming parts are still available, then the equipment cannot be repaired.

Any system that is found to be low on refrigerant, with the possibility that there is a leak on the system should be dealt with as a matter of urgency, if un-repairable then the refrigerant should be reclaimed to minimise the leakage of the refrigerant.

This applies to all refrigerants and is part of the F Gas Legislation requirement by law.

Leak testing must be carried out to air conditioning systems with reference to their refrigerant GWP rating.

Refrigerant GWP rating and interval leak testing is as below

0-5 GWP, no leak testing required

5-50 GWP, every 12 months

50-500 GWP, every 6 months
